Growers seeking to comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule have a new educational resource in the form of the Farmers Union Produce Safety Podcast. The podcast is an educational series for fruit and vegetable farmers that takes the Produce Safety Alliance classroom learning into the field.
The podcast shares produce-safety requirements and best practices -- from harvesting to record-keeping. Producers can then take the knowledge and apply it to their operations. Each episode covers different topics and ranges from five to 20 minutes in length.
The Farmers Union Produce Safety Podcast is free and available for download on iTunes or online. The podcast was produced by the Wisconsin Farmers Union, with support and funding from the National Farmers Union, the Local Food Safety Collaborative, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
