Three students recently earned scholarships from Alltech Wisconsin. The animal-nutrition company is awarding one $1,000 scholarship to a student pursing a four-year degree in agricultural and life sciences, and two $500 scholarships to technical-degree students.

Lydia Janet Luebke of Kiel, Wisconsin, is the winner of the $1,000 scholarship. She graduated in 2017 from Kiel High School and is currently attending the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Sheboygan Campus. This fall she plans to attend UW-River Falls, majoring in dairy science with a minor in Spanish. Luebke works on her family’s dairy farm, where she’s responsible for calf health from vaccinations to feeding rates. Her career goal is to work as a large-animal veterinarian. Her passion and enthusiasm for agriculture shone through in her application.

Winners of the $500 technical-degree scholarships:

Brooke Cooper of Mount Calvary, Wisconsin, is a senior at Campbellsport High School. She plans to attend Fox Valley Technical College this fall to study agricultural science and technology as well as Spanish. After completing her degree she hopes to return to her family’s dairy farm. She says she wants to work there in a communications role, specifically helping farmers communicate with their workers.

Mitchell Reitsma of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 2018 and is currently attending Ridgewater College, studying dairy management. He plans to return to his family dairy farm and transition to becoming an owner after completing his degree. His family is currently transitioning their 90-cow dairy into a 250-cow robotic-milking dairy. He hopes to renovate the old facilities into a calf barn and start his own steer-raising business.

The scholarships are awarded to applicants based on scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, career goals and future agricultural aspirations. Visit for more information.
