The Wisconsin Hereford Association and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources invite all beef enthusiasts to a free field day to be held Aug. 24. The hosts for the event are ST Genetics of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and Huth Polled Herefords of Oakfield, Wisconsin.

The first stop at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 24 will be at ST Genetics Wisconsin headquarters, W7652 Wisconsin Highway 151, Fond du Lac. Roger Breunig, manager, and his crew will welcome visitors. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. with tours of the facility beginning at 10 a.m. ST Genetics is an artificial-insemination and sexing-technology company. Attendees will tour the facility, see the lab and explore the distribution center.

The second stop at noon will be at Herefords and Grass, W9096 County Road AS, Oakfield. A Certified Hereford Beef lunch will be provided with tours of the Huth operation and the neighboring Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources-Pea Glacial Habitat Restoration Area, which is used for grazing cattle.

Of special interest will be presentations on grazing state DNR public lands, benefits of the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems, tips on fencing and water-line installation by Cutler Fence, and invigorating and renovating pastures by Byron Seeds.
