The Waukesha County Fair is proud to be the oldest fair in the state of Wisconsin. This year will be the 177th fair. The first Waukesha County Fair was held in 1842 in a poplar grove on Carroll Street in Prairieville, Wisconsin. It was a gala Fourth of July Celebration, complete with fireworks and a festive dinner. One of the day’s highlights included a plowing match between farmers, with about $40 in premiums awarded to the winners. The best single premium was $3 for the best yield of corn from 1 acre. The 2019 fair will be held July 17-21 at the Waukesha County Fairgrounds, 1000 Northview Road, Waukesha, Wisconsin. Visit or call 262-544-5922 for more information.
