Conservation Day

A barn owl was among the demonstrations during the annual Conservation Day Activities at Summit Lake State Recreation Area on Thursday, Oct. 3. The annual event, hosted by Burt County Extension, drew sixth graders from nine area schools to hear presentations from a variety of groups, including: Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Game and Parks, Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District and the Nebraska Forest Service. Students learned about soil and water conservation, protecting wildlife and preserving nature.
