Ann Swanson

A graveside service for Ann Swanson was held Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Lyons Cemetery in Lyons, Neb. The 91-year-old Lyons woman passed away May 13, 2019, at Hillcrest Shadow Lake in Omaha.

Francis Ann Swanson was born November 30, 1927, to Leon and Grace (Bean) Baker, in Austin, Texas. She attended school in Austin.

Ann married Second Lt. Donald Swanson, USACC, in February 1944 in El Paso, Texas. Following the war, the family moved to Omaha. In 1968, they moved to Lyons.

Ann enjoyed her job at the theater. She was a longtime member of Central Presbyterian Church and was active in Eastern Star, Oakland Hospital Auxiliary, Lyons Library Board, Lyons Community Club and VFW Auxiliary.

Don passed away in 1980. Ann moved to Bellevue to be with her son and his family in 2012. Her hobbies included reading, sewing and knitting. She really enjoyed watching the baseball games at the College World Series.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; son, Jon Swanson; brother, Bobby Baker.

She is survived by her sons, Donald, Jr. (Joan) of Omaha, George (Pam) of Bellevue; daughter, Rebecca Schaffner of Fremont, Neb.; three granddaughters; five grandsons; seven great grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Happy Days Senior Center and /or Lyons Fire and Rescue.
