1 lb. bulk ground pork or sausage

1 C. coarsely chopped onion

4 C. cubed, peeled potatoes

2 C. water

1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. dried marjoram

1⁄8 tsp. pepper

1 pkg. frozen whole kernel corn

12 oz. can evaporated milk (or whole)

Cook ground pork or sausage and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Drain. If using ground pork, season it with 1 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. pepper and 1/2 tsp. sage.

In Dutch oven, combine water, potatoes, salt, marjoram and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer until potatoes are just tender. Add the corn, seasoned pork or sausage and milk and heat through.

Bratwurst maybe used in place of seasoned ground pork or sausage. Cook bratwurst and cut into small pieces before adding to chowder.
