Banana Oatmeal cookies

1 1/2 C. flour

1 C. sugar

1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

3/4 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 C. shortening

1 egg, well beaten

1 C. mashed banana

1 3/4 C. oatmeal

1 C. nuts (optional)

Sift together flour, sugar, salt, soda, nutmeg and cinnamon.

Cut in shortening. Add egg, banana, oatmeal and nuts. Beat until thoroughly blended.

Drop by teaspoonful 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake at 350° for 12-13 minutes.

For frosting

1/2 C. butter

1 C. brown sugar

1/4 C. milk

1 3/4 to 2 C. powdered sugar

Stir butter and brown sugar over low heat for 2 minutes. Add milk. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Cool to lukewarm. Gradually stir in powdered sugar. Spread over cooled cookies.
