1/2 C. shortening

1 C. brown sugar

1 egg

2 C. flour

1/4 tsp. soda

1/2 C. sour milk

6 T. cocoa

1 tsp. vanilla

1/4 tsp. salt

1/2 C. nuts

Cream shortening, brown sugar and egg. Combine soda in sour milk and add to sugar mixture. Add cocoa, vanilla and salt and beat well. Last, fold in nuts. Drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. While cookies are still hot, frost with:

For frosting:

1 pasteurized egg (optional)

1 3/4 C. powdered sugar

1 T. milk

2 T. cocoa

Mix and spread on cookies.
