1 3/4 C. boiling water

1 C. quick cooking oatmeal

1 C. brown sugar

1 C. sugar

1 stick oleo

2 eggs

1 3/4 C. flour

1 tsp. soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1 T. cocoa

1 pkg. chocolate chips

3/4 C. walnuts

Put oatmeal in a mixing bowl, add the hot water and stir. Let stand 10 minutes. Note: “I always lay the oleo in the oatmeal. It melts and is easier to stir.”

Add sugars and eggs to mixture and stir well. Mix flour, soda, salt and cocoa, and add to the sugar and egg mixture. Stir well. Put half of the package of chocolate chips in the mix and stir.

Put mixture in a bundt pan or angel food cake pan that has been well greased and floured. Sprinkle the rest of the chips on top, along with all the walnuts. Bake at 350° for 40-50 minutes.

Let the cake cool for 10 minutes and then turn out onto a plate. Quickly put another plate on top of the cake and flip it again — you wants the chips and nuts to be on the top.
