“Soybeans prices were lower on lack of progress toward an agreement on the US/Chinese trade talks,” Ami Heesch, with CHS Hedging, said. “Prices saw additional pressure stem from ideas that a late spring planting season could show bean acres the same or higher than last year’s 89.1 mln acres.”

Analysts were concerned about the impact of South America’s crop on exports. “Approaching South America soybean harvest may also offer resistance if their supply begins to reduce US soybean and soymeal export demand,” Steve Freed, VP of Grain Research with ADM Investor Services, said. “Weekly US soybean exports were near 31 mln bushel versus 18 last year.”
