In weighted average negotiated prices for barrows and gilts, USDA reported;
- National carcass base up 69 cents to $56.27/cwt.
- National live was 96 cents higher, moving to $41.92
- Iowa-Minnesota carcass base moved up 58 cents to $57.12
USDA reported carcass cutout values this afternoon rose 61 cents to $77.52/cwt.
Hogs continued to trade higher today on trade hopes once again, Virginia McGathey of McGathey commodities said. “Exports to China are really driving the market,” she said. “Make no mistake that a deal means the most to pork producers.”
“China's spot pig price continues to shoot higher and further advance in the hog markets look limited in the near term due to the premium of futures prices to the cash index,” Stewart-Peterson said.
