Jeff DeYoung has been named editor of IFT Publications, replacing Roy Leidahl, who retired in December. DeYoung will continue in his role as livestock editor.
He joined IFT as livestock editor in February 1994 before leaving in 1999 to pursue an opportunity in private business, although he continued to work for IFT as a freelancer. DeYoung returned full-time in 2002.
Prior to joining IFT, DeYoung worked for newspapers in Nebraska City, Nebraska, as well as Glenwood, Webster City and Atlantic, Iowa.
He will lead the editorial department for Iowa Farmer Today, Missouri Farmer Today, Illinois Farmer Today and Midwest Marketer.
“I have always considered it a privilege to be part of the outstanding IFT Publications news staff over the past 25 years,” DeYoung said. “I look forward to this new opportunity, and I’m grateful to be able to continue to write about the U.S. ag industry.”
DeYoung grew up on a small diversified farm near Corning in Adams County, Iowa. He is a graduate of Corning High School and Dana College in Blair, Neb.
