Looking for vegetable gardens that work? Come to the Nebraska Extension Vegetable Garden Tour, 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Nebraska Extension Office, 348 W. State Farm Rd., in North Platte.
This garden is part of the “Growing Together Nebraska” grant program through Nebraska Extension to raise produce for local food pantries in North Platte. Nebraska Extension horticulture and foods educators will share easy-to-use tips at home. Extension Master Gardeners helped plan, raise, maintain and harvest produce out of this garden. Topics covered at the tour will cover variety selection, home composting, use of mulch, and how to prepare different vegetables that the whole family will enjoy.
Here is a great opportunity to learn about the different vegetable varieties that were chosen and raised in the garden. Visit with Extension Master Gardeners who work with in this garden by maintaining this garden, what aspects have been successful, and which areas of the garden will be improved for next year.
While there is no charge for this program, please RSVP by Tuesday, Aug. 27, to the Nebraska Extension Office by calling 308-532-2683 to ensure enough handouts and samples for all program participants.
