Downhome ag hero makes good on national stage

  • Updated

Minnesota Millennial Farmer was created by Zach and Becky Johnson, of the Kensington/Lowry region in Central Minnesota. Zach has more than 300,000 followers on his YouTube channel, is sponsored by many agricultural companies and groups, and is now heard nationwide on podcasts.

American Public Media is producing Field Work Podcast that features Zach plus Mitchell Hora, who farms in Southeast Iowa. They discuss the benefits of sustainable agriculture and how it might or might not work on their farms.

With over 100,000 followers, the new Podcast show is considered a success. Yet, Zach Johnson remains a young farmer who lives just down the road. To show support for one of our own, there will be two opportunities to say hello to Zach and Mitchell at Minnesota Farmfest 2019. Visit the Minnesota Corn Growers Association booth (702) on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., for a meet and greet. The Field Work team will also have a recorded podcast on stage at 3 p.m. in the Wick Buildings Farmfest Center. The podcast is called, “Generational Perspectives on Sustainable Agriculture.”

Join Zach and Mitchell as they interview their dads to showcase the generational differences and attitudes about sustainable farming. They’ll also bring a couple experts onto the stage to “field” audience questions about how to make conservation practices work.
