"The unprecedented February wetness flipped winter precipitation departures from negative to positive," Missouri State Climatologist Pat Guinan said in a February weather review.
"Preliminary data indicate a statewide average December-January-Februrary total of 7.41 inches for the month, or 0.89 inches above the long-term average."
Guinan said "roller-coaster" temperature fluctuations persisted into February but the statewide average temperature for the month ws 34.6 degrees F, 1.1 degree higher than normal.
"It was the third consecutive warmer than average February for the state ... and the fifth above average month out of the past six months," Guinan reported.
