Figuring out the best way to manage water while maintaining water quality is key to a successful operation, Brandel said. That’s especially true in southeastern South Dakota which was hit hard by wet conditions this spring.

After two very wet years and an extreme winter in South Dakota, Dakotafest will be the place to go for information on the newest drainage practices, as well as how to design the perfect water management system for each individual operation. The centerpiece to the drainage discussions at Dakotafest will be a 11 a.m. talk at the education building Thursday, Aug. 22.

WEST FARGO, N.D. – The field demonstrations at this year’s Big Iron Farm Show will focus on two areas that are becoming increasingly popular with farmers, according to John Nowatzki, Extension agricultural machines specialist at NDSU and coordinator of the field demonstrations. The two subjects highlighted will be alternative grain storage options and how tile drainage effects the soil.
