1918 Model T Ford

The driver of this new or nearly new 1918 Model T Ford is Henry T. Hemmingson of Lily, South Dakota.  His wife, to the left, is his wife, Hattie (Mathre) Hemmingson, holding their young daughter, Dorothy Hemmingson (Bennell). From the top is eldest son Harold Hemmingson, who later had the Ford Garage in Kadoka, SD. To his right is Elbert O. Hemmingson who farmed southwest of Canton.  The two sisters to the right are Elsie who married Clarence Jensen of Bristol, SD, and Arline who married Orlando Kjosa of the Butler/Bradley area and later Sioux Falls.

This photo comes from Dr. Leslie Hemmingson, a veterinarian from Le Mars, Iowa, who retired after 42 years in practice. His grandfather, Henry T. Hemmingson of Lily, South Dakota, owned this 1918 Model T Ford, and his father, Elbert O. Hemmingson is the second boy from the left.

Also pictured is grandmother Hattie (Mathre) Hemmingson, holding their young daughter, Dorothy (Bennell); the oldest son, Harold Hemmingson, who later had the Ford Garage in Kadoka, South Dakota; Elbert, who farmed southwest of Canton; and two sisters – Elsie who married Clarence Jensen of Bristol, South Dakota, and Arline, who married Orlando Kjosa of the Butler-Bradley area and later Sioux Falls.
