Dairy Expo

Exhibitors and visitors share a laugh at the Central Plains Dairy Expo.

The growing dairy industry in the region will be on display during a three-day expo in Sioux Falls this month.

The Central Plains Dairy Expo is set for March 26-28 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

The all-dairy show brings more than 300 companies to exhibit their latest products and services for milk producers, calf and heifer growers, dairy beef feeders and forage growers.

Free for all

Admission is free. Parking is free, and to kick it all off, there’s a welcome reception and country music concert, all free to dairy producers and others in the industry.

Visitors will also be able to grab a free meal during the expo. Several companies are providing lunches for their customers Wednesday, March 27.

There’s a free cheese social in the trade show area Wednesday beginning at 4:30 p.m. A free pancake breakfast is served Thursday morning, March 28, in the arena.

Free milk, ice cream, cheese and dairy treats are available at booths throughout the two-day trade show. Look for free milkshakes and grilled cheese sandwiches in the new Dairy Bar in the Arena.

Learning sessions

Visitors to the Central Plains Dairy Expo can be on the lookout for a new idea that can help your dairy or farm be a little more efficient.

Sponsors are presenting 21 breakout sessions on a wide range of topics. There is a market outlook for dairy, dairy-beef and feedstuffs. There are sessions on nearly every aspect of cow and calf management. There’s a panel on robotics and other labor saving automation. There are presentations about ways to better manage inputs when margins are tight.

Visitors will be able to learn about new products in the field such as new alfalfa varieties, vaccines and feed supplements.

Speakers include leading experts in their fields.

One breakout session will be presented in Spanish, and on Thursday, March 27, there are three additional sessions presented in Spanish.

A full list of breakout sessions is available on the dairy expo website at www.centralplainsdairy.com.
