The South Dakota Agricultural Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of their annual grant programs to support youth ag education. This year, the Foundation awarded grant funding to 19 innovative projects.

These youth ag education programs include:

• Integrating aeroponics, hydroponics and other ag-related technologies into ag classrooms, 4-H events and fairs across the state.

• Showcasing and creating pathways to careers in agriculture in the Sioux Falls area.

• Transforming a school shop into a Foods Science and Ag Processing classroom in Harding County.

• Improving parks, memorials and public facilities from Buffalo to Tyndall to Flandreau. With their goal to invest in the future of agriculture in South Dakota, the Foundation supports ag education and youth focussed projects through two annual grant programs.

The Ag Innovators (AI) Youth Education grants fund creative projects offering more agriculture related innovation and leadership programs for youth. Selected programs involve a combination of agriculture, innovation, technology and leadership in the area of youth education and address an educational need or opportunity in a more innovative, effective, equitable, or sustainable way than existing approaches.

This year, the Foundation awarded 10 AI Youth Education grants totaling $15,000. The Building Rural Communities (BRC) grants support community improvement projects and projects that enhance public safety. These student-lead and -implemented projects are open to 4-H Clubs, FFA Chapters, and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapters. Nine BRC grants totaling $6,500 were awarded for 2019.
